| Video Discription | Tom Sweeney interviews Gary Dee (Gilbert) about his recent termination from WPKX-FM 105.9 in Washington, DC, and possible return to Cleveland. WKYC-TV Channel 3 Cleveland, OH January 29, 1985 Gary Dee was a controversial talk radio pioneer best known for his time at WERE-AM 1300 and WHK-AM 1420 in Cleveland, OH. After being fired by WHK in 1983 Gary went on to do brief stints at WPKX-FM 105.9 Washington DC, WUSN-FM 99.5 Chicago, IL, and WMCA-AM 570 New York, NY but failed to achieve the huge following he had in Cleveland during the 1970's and early 80's. Gary returned to Cleveland at WWWE-AM 1100 (3WE) in 1987. Though he again failed to recapture his former glory as Cleveland's "Fearless Morning Leader". After being fired by 3WE in 1989 he returned to WERE-AM 1300 for a short time before his death from heart failure in 1995 at the age of 60. |
