| Video Discription | There is a village in India that sells electricity to the government. Yes, you heard it right! Udanthurai, located in Tamil Nadu, has transformed from a village without a single concrete house or drinking water to one of the top smart villages in Asia. In 1996, R Sanmogan became the Sarpanch of Udanthurai. With government funds, he built concrete houses, provided clean drinking water, and installed electricity. After these improvements, R Sanmogan still had forty lakh rupees left. Instead of using this money for personal gain, he decided to install solar panels and windmills in the village. He took a loan from the government to complete these projects and successfully repaid it by 2017. Today, Udanthurai is so advanced that it sells electricity to the government, earning twenty lakh rupees every year.
