| Video Discription | Dr. Abhay Shukla is a Public health physician, with a postgraduate degree in Community Medicine from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. He is Senior Programme Coordinator at SATHI-CEHAT, is a member of the National Rural Health Mission Advisory Group for Community Action (AGCA), and is also a member of the Core group on Health of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).Since the last two decades he has been based in Maharashtra, working on health issues in collaboration with people’s movements and grassroots NGOs. He is a national convenor of Jan Swasthya Abhiyan (People’s Health Movement – India),and was centrally involved in organization of the national Right to health care campaign. Dr. Shukla has co-edited / co-authored a number of books including ‘Review of Health care in India’, ‘Health system in India – crisis and alternatives’ and ‘The Rights Approach to Health and Health care’. He has been involved in developing the framework of Community based monitoring and planning (CBMP) of health services at national level as a component of NRHM, and is guiding the implementation of CBMP in Maharashtra since 2007. He is actively involved in campaigns and action research for patient’s rights, social regulation of the private medical sector and Universal Health Care. |
