The situation worsened rapidly, particularly since Tuesday evening, as the water levels of the Nambul and Imphal rivers breached the danger mark, inundating homes and streets in low-lying areas. Responding to the urgent plea for assistance from the state government, the Indian Army swiftly initiated ‘Op JAL RAHAT,’ a comprehensive flood relief measure. In coordination with the District Commissioner of Imphal East, emergency columns were immediately deployed to the flood-affected regions. As per reports, over 350 civilians affected by torrential rains have been rescued in the state so far while several troops are still on the ground.
