"OK. Good morning. For me it is very few remarks, I just want to welcome Dominique Strauss-Khan to his new home."
5. SOUNDBITE: (English) Dominique Strauss-Kahn, IMF Managing Director:
"Well thank Rodrigo, I am now the Managing Director of the fund and I am very proud and I would like pay tribute to Rodrigo de Rato, who launched a lot of reforms - which was absolutely needed by the institution. Reform on surveillance, reform on quota invoice, reform on income and expenditures and now what I have to do is to try to build on that, to go on and to give this institution as he did, and we try old managing directors one after the other one to give the institution the role it deserves. I am happy the way we organise this transmission, I wish Rodrigo the best back to Spain and I understand his new life is also a life in which he said he is happy to go back."

9. UPSOUND: (English) Dominique Strauss-Kahn, IMF Managing Director:
"And now I am going for building on what Rodrigo de Rato did during the last years going further and faster to reform the institution because the mandate of the intuitions hasn't changed but the world in which the institution has to work changed dramatically and so we have to adapt. Already did, and ... the institution has already adapted to the new world but we probably have to do more and that is the agenda for the coming months. Thank You."

STORYLINE:
France's Dominique Strauss-Kahn took control of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Thursday, taking over an institution facing challenges to both its finances and relevance in the modern global economy.
After hearing words of welcome from outgoing IMF Managing Director Rodrigo de Rato, Stauss-Khan stressed that he would be building on the reforms put in place by his predecessor.
"I am now (on) the Managing Director of the fund and I am very proud and I would like pay tribute to Rodrigo de Rato, who launched a lot of reforms - which was absolutely needed by the institution," he said in his first words to his new staff.
"Reform on surveillance, reform on quota invoice, reform on income and expenditures and now what I have to do is to try to build on that to go on and to give this institution as he did and we try old managing directors one after the other one to give the institution the role it deserves."
Speaking to reporters after being shown his office for the first time, the former French Finance Minister acknowledged, "the mandate of the intuitions hasn't changed but the world in which the institution has to work changed dramatically and so we have to adapt."
The autumn IMF-World Bank meetings recently took place in Washington against a backdrop of soaring oil prices, a falling US dollar and the worst credit crisis in a decade, brought when markets essentially froze.
Strauss-Khan succeeds de Rato of Spain, who resigned nearly two years before his five-year mandate ended, citing personal reasons.
