| Video Discription | (3 Nov 2015) Indian Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi along with party leaders marched to the President House on Tuesday to protest against "rising intolerance" in the country. The mother and son led more than 140 Members of Congress to meet the president and hand over a memorandum requesting him to end the "atmosphere of intolerance." Protesters sid they were angry and worried by a spate of deadly attacks against atheist thinkers and minorities, and by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "deafening silence" through it all. In the past few weeks, artists, filmmakers, historians and scientists have been protesting aginst religious bigotry and communal violence and have been asking the Prime Minister to protect India's tradition of secularism and diversity. The uproar among intellectuals began in late September, when a village mob beat a Muslim man to death and left his son in a critical condition over rumours that their family had been eating beef. Ten people have been arrested in connection with the attack.
