Today, we have a question from Sergey about dynamic comments in Excel. He wants to know if there is a way to make the text in a comment box update automatically based on the value of another cell or formula on the worksheet. After trying a few different methods, I couldn't find a satisfying answer, so I'm turning to you, our viewers, for help. As you may know, we can insert a comment in Excel by going to Insert, Comment, and typing in the desired text. However, when trying to make that text dynamic, things get a bit tricky. I tried setting the comment to point to another cell, using the auto shape tool, and even using the camera tool, but none of these methods seemed to work. So, I turned to VBA for a solution. In order to make the comment text dynamic, I used a macro that runs every time the worksheet is recalculated. By accessing the code pane for the worksheet and using the input message function, I was able to update the comment text based on the value of a certain cell. This means that every time the worksheet is recalculated, the comment text will also update. While this solution may not be perfect, it does the job without any noticeable lag or flashing. I'm still not completely satisfied with this solution and I'm sure there must be a better way to achieve dynamic comments in Excel.
