For the First Time on YouTube, you will see this incredible Masala Mogo Chaat which is a tangy and delicious Cassava Chaat. Cassava (or Mogo) is a root vegetable that is popular in many countries including Tanzania and Kenya (where my parents are from) and South America. It has a creamy texture and goes fantastically well as a Chaat. A Chaat is a flavour explosion of flavours and textures, including sweet, savoury, tangy, spicy, cool, crunchy - seriously tantilising for your tastebuds! Link to our Tamarind and Date Chutney and Green Chutney (which are both Chaat Chutneys) can be found here: https://youtu.be/1Eo_HbgCrmw To make this Mogo Chaat Recipe, you will need: Mogo (also known as mohogo, yuca or cassava) - we used 1 whole fresh one (boil in salt water then fry for best results) To make the Mogo Masala: 2 tbs oil half of a small onion 1 medium-sized tomato salt to taste 1 tsp cumin powder 1 tsp chaat masala 1/2 tsp chili flakes 1 tbs lemon juice 2 tbs tamarind pulp 30ml water 1 green chili coriander To make the Sweet yogurt: 1 cup yogurt (thick yogurt works best) salt to taste 1/2 tsp cumin powder 1 tsp sugar whisk the yogurt until smooth and thinner in consistency Other components for the chaat: onions tomatoes green chili coriander chaat masala mango pieces (optional but a great addition) pomegranate crispy mogo chips sev chaat chutneys (link to our recipes found here): https://youtu.be/1Eo_HbgCrmw prepared masala mogo We showed you how to serve this delicious and tangy cassava chaat two different ways. The first is as a single dish for everyone to share, and the second way is individual portions served up in cocktail glasses which are perfect party food ideas and a definite crowd-pleaser!
